Captives on the Earth Imprisoned in this rotating zoo we stare at the stars that guard us every night. Then comes the rain showering its iron bars that build an invisible barricade, yet we think we are free! Like a roaring lion we rise everywhere to demand our rights , we gather support like the howling Gray wolf, yet when our master tortures us with pain, like a giggling hyena we surrender. We fall flat like a snake, our croaking mellowed to mere hissing. Like a monkey with a mirror we gaze at our image and wonder who we are. We cannot see our elephantine ego Being fed to the mice.
Married to a scientist, Sargam Garg uses lyric to balance the logic. An English literature major by education and a dreamer by temperament she finds fulfillment in writing poetry.
